Full of Old West charm and adventure, the town of Cody was named after its founder Buffalo Bill Cody. The town hosts a variety of attractions sure to please the whole family. Tourists come for the regular cowboy shootout reenactments, restored old frontier buildings and to stay in a classic Cody, WY guest ranch. The Buffalo Bill Reservoir
This beautiful lake, created by the Buffalo Bill Dam is an excellent day trip from Cody. The views around the basin alone are spectacular and attract many for landscape photos. In the warmer months, one can enjoy boating, fishing and swimming in the lake. Campgrounds and picnic areas are set up near the water, allowing for the perfect picnic spot.

Buffalo Bill Center of the West
This list would not be complete without the Buffalo Bill Center of the West. Holding close to 3,000 five star reviews on Trip Advisor, the museum is certain to leave a big impression and give visitors a diverse collection of exhibits that illustrate life in the American West. The Natural History Museum includes exhibits about the greater Yellowstone area including geology, flora, and fauna. The western art museum hosts phenomenal paintings of the Old West, Native Americans, and landscape pieces from well-known and lesser-known artists. With a great, modern facility with engaging exhibits, you can easily spend a day here.

Airborne Over Cody
Cody also features excellent activities for the adrenaline junkies in your family. Airborne over Cody tops the list with its offering of a unique way to view Cody and the surrounding areas through powered hang gliding. Reach heights of 3,000 feet in the open cockpit aircraft and take in sights only the eagles can see. This is a fantastic day trip and a memorable experience for all who dare embark on a flight!

Beartooth Loop Route
The first is the Beartooth Loop. From Wyoming 296, a right turn on US 212 put you on the Beartooth All-American Road. This drive is considered one of the most incredible National Forest drives on the North American continent. High peaks, gorgeous valleys, and mountain lakes dominate the scenes on the drive. Beartooth Pass will have you at the highest elevation of 10,947 feet. This drive includes incredible views of Rock Creek Canyon.
