When you think of what it takes to overcome an addiction to any substance, there are probably a thousand words that you would use to describe it. However, it is unlikely that one of those words would be “luxurious.” And yet, since you are going through one of the toughest challenges of your life, it seems only fair that you should at least enjoy a few perks while you spend time in rehab. And there are actually a surprising number of rehab facilities that are more luxurious than any hotel you have ever stayed in – and more expensive! Here are some of the world’s most luxurious rehab centers. If you are looking for long term drug rehab, some of these might do the trick – that is, if you can fit them in your budget!

Silver Hill Hospital – Connecticut, USA

Cost: $1,200 per day

Located in New Canaan, Connecticut, Silver Hill has been around since 1931; and when you take a look around, it is easy to understand why it has lasted all these years. Each “guest” receives a private room, with full housekeeping services. You are then encouraged to feel at home in the 60 acres of land that surround the facility, enjoying activities such as bowling, climbing, rafting, and camping. In addition to this, there is a gym, a basketball court, volleyball, heated pool, sauna and tennis courts, a hairdresser and a gift shop.

The Sanctuary Byron Bay – New South Wales, Australia

Cost: $18,500 per week

The Sanctuary seeks to help its patients through one-on-one treatment, allotting a team of specialists to each resident. This might sound intimidating, but when you consider that it happens at a tropical beach location, complete with  beachfront bungalows, a private chauffeured limousine, a private chef, an acupuncturist, a personal fitness instructor, a yoga and meditation teacher, as well as 24/7 access to medical staff, it doesn’t really sound that bad, does it?

The Dunes – New York, USA

Cost: $45,000 per month

Anything located in the Hamptons already has a somewhat glamorous label attached to it, but the Dunes is more than just a fancy name. The four-acre facility offers  a pool, jacuzzi, personal trainers, Tibetan meditation, a tennis court and gourmet cuisine to patients. Hopefully that will help patients to cope with the loss of the large amount of cash that it takes to recover at the Dunes.

The Cabin – Chiang Mai, Thailand

Cost: $12,900 for a 28-day program

The Cabin is a luxurious and exclusive rehab center, but because of its location, it is far cheaper than most others that you might find in Western countries. At the cabin, there is drama and art therapy, personal training, one-on-one and group therapy sessions, and massage treatments. You also get to ride elephants, zip-line through the jungle, go on treks through the beautiful scenery, and learn to make Thai jewelry.

Passages – California, USA

Cost: $1,300 per day

The gourmet dining might be enough to draw people towards the Passages in Malibu, California; but its location also means that it is generally sunny and warm, something that the guests are encouraged to take advantage of with their swimming pool, ocean view, or many other luxuries. The Passages also guarantees you their full attention, only allowing 12 guests at a time.
