Summer is a dream season in the Greater San Francisco Bay Area. It seems that every weekend, from Memorial Day to Labor Day, there are a variety of festivals to fill your time. Here are some summer festivals in the Greater San Francisco Bay Area that you shouldn’t miss.

Carnaval Festival & Parade

Date: The Saturday and Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend
Location: 24th & Bryant to 17th & Harrison

Bands, DJs, and dancing throughout the streets of San Francisco while eating the best of what Latin cuisine has to offer are the highlights of this festival. The event culminates in a massive parade on Sunday that caps off the festivities.

Union Street Festival

Date: First Saturday & Sunday in June
Location: Union Street

Vendors providing craft beer and local wines and musicians creating tunes throughout the day and night have led the Union Street Festival to be one of the top events in San Francisco. This free festival also offers the best food from the area so that guests may sample the diverse cuisines of Union Street.

Pride Parade & Festival

Date: Last Weekend in June
Location: Civic Center Plaza

No San Francisco festival list can be without the Pride Parade & Festival. This free event begins by honoring all those LGBTQ+ individuals who lost their lives. It moves on to an all weekend celebration with over 20 stages, 300 vendors, and a massive parade on Sunday morning. This can’t miss event should be a must on anyone’s travel bucket list.

Waterfront Festival

Date: July 4th
Location: Fisherman’s Wharf

The premier family festival in San Francisco, the Waterfront Festival brings 4th of July fun to the city. Activities for all ages, live entertainment, and a wide selection of food and beverage choices highlight the event. The festival is capped by a Fourth of July fireworks show that rivals any in the world.

Outside Lands Festival

Date: Second Weekend in August
Location: Golden Gate Park

One of the premier music festivals in the world, the Outside Lands Festival brings A-list level bands to Golden Gate Park. Offering a wide variety of music genres, this festival truly has something for everyone. Tickets sell out quickly for this annual event.

Sausalito Arts Festival

Date: Labor Day Weekend
Location: Sausalito Waterfront

Across the Golden Gate Bridge, Sausalito has been making noise in the summer festival scene for over 60 years. This festival brings artists from around the world to show off their wares. In recent years, the festival has been known to bring in some of the best local musicians and live acts to perform.
