Pedernales Cellars is renowned for great red wines, particularly their GSM red blend. Their flavorful reds are not the only thing about Pedernales Cellars that will leave an impression on you; their gorgeous patio offers a 360-degree view of the famous Texas hill country. Additionally, live music is often staged at the winery. Tastings don’t need to be scheduled and feel free to explore this exquisite property.

Becker Vineyards

Becker Vineyards produces an impressive 1.3 million bottles of red, white and rose wines every year. Becker also has a bed & breakfast near the property, making this a convenient home base for a Texas hill country wine tour. Late spring and early summer may well be the best time to visit Becker Vineyards; that’s when their sweeping fields of lavender and wildflowers are in full bloom. Small groups are OK for walk-in tastings, larger groups should make a reservation.

Torre di Pietra Vineyards

The Torre di Pietra winery has the intimate and inviting quality of a boutique winery. This family-run vineyard offers Tuscany inspired wines and atmosphere. They specialize in delicious Cabernet Sauvignon but try their scandalously good blends, including Red Flirt and Dirty Girl. Torre di Pietra often hosts live music and is pet-friendly. Reservations are needed for wine tastings.

Grape Creek Vineyards

Grape Creek Vineyards is an Italian-inspired winery, with Tuscan style stone and red roof architecture. Over the years, Grape Creek has won more than 200 medals for their fine wines in just the last two years. The 2012 bottling of Bellissimo and the 2013 Cabernet & Syrah blend are especially noteworthy. Their trattoria, open on the weekends, overlooks the vineyards, and often features live music.

William Chris Vineyards

Pioneers in the Texas wine country, William Blackmon and Chris Brundrett established the William Chris Vineyards back in 2008. They feature red, white and sparkling wines. The vineyards were planted on the old Hye estate, and many of the buildings date back to 1905. The outdoor pavilion and deck treat their guests to panoramic views of the lush vineyard and the distant rolling hills. William Chris Vineyards is pet-friendly, and hosts live music on Sundays.
