The Oregon coast has a variety of wildlife attractions for the outdoor enthusiast. Driving down highway 101 offers you several places to pull over and observe the natural wildlife as well as the scenery.  If you are more into visiting an attraction, the Oregon Coast has several that are worth visiting.

The Sea Lion Caves are located on highway 101 just eleven miles north of Florence, Oregon. As well as being able to see the sea lions, seabirds, and whales, the caves showcase marine mammal bones. The caves are a privately owned sanctuary that is open year round.

The Oregon Coast Aquarium is located in Newport, Oregon just across the Yaquina Bay Bridge. The aquarium is a non-profit organization that has several exhibits focused on different habitats and the marine life that is found within them. The aquarium is open year round.

The Undersea Gardens is also located in Newport, Oregon. This attraction showcases a theater atmosphere while giving visitors a guided tour of marine life. There are dive shows designed to entertain the entire family with special effects. The Undersea Gardens is open year round.

The Seaside Aquarium is located in Seaside, Oregon. This aquarium is privately owned and is one of the oldest aquariums in Oregon with its founding in 1937. As well as showcasing marine life, this aquarium offers a touch tank in its Discovery Center. The aquarium is open year round.

The West Coast Game Park Safari is located on highway 101 just seven miles south of Bandon, Oregon. The park showcases its hands-on animal experiences that make it an interactive zoo for the whole family. From March to November and from December 26-31, the park is open daily. From January to February, the park is only open on weekends.

There is a variety of places to watch the whales during their migrations on the Oregon coast. Some places are better to see the whales than others. One of these places is the Depoe Bay Whale Watching Center. The best time for watching the gray whales migrate is from the middle of December to the middle of January. The whale watching center is staffed year-round to answer questions that you may have regarding whale watching and their migration patterns.
